There are many more examples of Satan's presence in modern music and culture. Not being familiar with most of what passes for modern entertainment, I have been exposed to a few specimens of anti-Christian art. A few months ago, while surfing the channels (my wife hates when I do that) I stumbled upon the beginning of a music video which caught my attention just because of the raucousness of the music. It was a video of the song "Chop Suey" by a group called "System Of A Down".
I watched the video and could only make out a few of the lyrics, but enough to think to myself, "Why are they so mad at Jesus?" The answer is obvious. This group is another example of a pop culture satanic prophet spouting his claims and crimes. I found the lyrics on the net, and reading them is worse than hearing them. I can't print them all, but here's a sampling.
The chorus goes like this:
Wake up,
Grab a brush and put a little (makeup),
Grab a brush and put a little,
Hide the scars to fade away the (shakeup)
Hide the scars to fade away the,
Why'd you leave the keys upon the table?
Here you go create another fable
The reference to Christ in the chorus is not quite evident, except for the last line, claiming that the Christian faith is based on fables. Typical of Satan to call into question the Word of God. The very first lie in the garden was designed to do the same: "Did God really say.....?" The "keys" in the preceding line perhaps refer to the keys to the kingdom referred to in Mat. 16 and elsewhere. The anti-Christ message of this song develops as the song progresses.
I don't think you trust,
In, my, self righteous suicide,
I, cry, when angels deserve to die, Die,
We find in these lines a more pointed attack on Jesus. The mocking reference to Christ's atoning sacrifice as a "self-righteous suicide" is a clear denial by Satan of the atoning work of Christ on the cross. By diminishing the importance of the shed blood of Jesus for the forgiveness of sins, Satan, through his prophets, is disarming the idea of a substitutionary victim to suffer for the sin of mankind. The enemy of our souls knows that he has no chance of ever being redeemed from his fate of eternal torment, and he does not like the idea that Yahweh made a way for mankind to experience redemption.
The mention of angels deserving to die is an interesting one. We know that Lucifer, at one time the greatest of all of Yahweh's creation, fell from his position as the light-bearing angel when he was lifted up with pride and attempted to usurp God's throne. It is said that many of the angels rebelled with him and became what are now known as demons. The majority of the angels, however, remained true to their creator, and they continue to minister to the saints. The fact is that angels will never die. Satan and his minions will one day spend eternity in a lake of fire where they will suffer incredibly forever.
The final few verses are quite clear concerning this satanic prophetic utterance:
Father (******) Brother (******)
Father/ Into your hands/I/commend my spirit,
Father, into your hands,
Why have you forsaken me,
In your eyes forsaken me,
In your thoughts forsaken me,
In your heart forsaken, me oh,
The lines "Into your hands I commend my spirit," and "why have you forsaken me" are direct quotes of Jesus on the cross. Of course, the profanity of the first line is indicative of how Satan feels about the God of creation, and how his prophets reflect the same. Satan wants us to believe that Jesus was forsaken by a fickle god who really doesn't care about anything. The fact of the matter is that the Father never forsook the Son. What Satan doesn't want you to know is the picture of a hideous Jesus hanging on a cross is a picture of our sin. The Father turned His head as the Son became the sin of the world. He did not become a sinner, but took our sin and the punishment thereof. He took our unrighteousness so that we could have His righteousness. Why did he do that? He loves us, that's why.
In fact, he loves Mick, and Serj, and Madonna, and JLo and all the rest. Another thing Satan does not want you to know is that when Jesus was hanging on the cross he did not curse or swear or doubt. He said, "Father, forgive them because they don't know what they are doing." That sentiment still exists, and should exist in the hearts of all believers.
If you are not a Christian and are reading this, don't be mad at Jesus. It is true that through the centuries people have done horrendous things in his name. He never told anyone to kill or imprison anybody, but he told us to love. If you want to find out about Christ, at least go to the book that purports to be the record of his ministry on this earth and make your own judgment, don't believe Satan's prophets, they have a very definite agenda.
And if you are a Christian and spend time listening to this stuff, please do yourself a great favor and stop. Do you realize that when you yield your mind to Satanic preaching you are allowing yourself to be filled with such spiritual ugliness that your witness and testimony for Jesus could be completely nullified? Please take your faith as seriously as these prophets of Satan take their commission. Live for Jesus and be willing to stand for the truth. I leave you with this quote from the writings of the Apostle Paul:
Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you. (Philippians 4:4-9)
Don't give Satan an opportunity to plant seeds of doubt, hatred, destruction or death in your mind, but continually be filled with the Holy Spirit, singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.
